Playground Review: John Grover Wyman Park

September 15, 2014
This week, my family and I visited John Grover Wyman Park. The park is around the corner from the Starbucks on Route 5 in North Haven. The address for the park is 11 Blakeslee Ave. North Haven 06473.
The playground at John Grover Wyman Park is situated at the back of the park past a baseball field and next to a bike path. The playground equipment is mostly made out of wood. It seems like an older playground but it is in good shape. There was only one area that was clearly in need of repair. The playground is totally shaded by large trees. The playground has all the basics, slides and swings, in addition to a sand box and obstacle course-like equipment. This playground is easily enjoyed by children of all ages (my 13 year old stepson even played on the equipment)! Though there is not a flush toilet, there is a port-a-potty in the parking lot.
For downsides, due to all the shade there must be a lot of bugs in the evening and after a rain it takes quite a while for the equipment and ground to dry. In addition, the equipment has a lot of tight spaces which make it hard for parents and caregivers to follow/assist little ones.
Despite the challenges of following my munchkin around, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at John Grover Wyman Park. It is well worth a trip!
